Phillip ‘Porky’ Bushar

Phillip “Porky” Bushar, 94, of Merrill, formerly of Tomahawk, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at the Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill. Phillip was born April 24, 1929 in Irma, Wis., the son of Phillip and Celia (Willet) Bushar. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Steinbach on Sept. 6, 1952 in Milwaukee and she preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2006. Phillip survived in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Porky liked woodworking, making yard art and decorations, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and playing cards and games with his kids.

Porky is survived by his daughter, Diane (John) Schroedel, Merrill and Donald (Michelle), Tomahawk; grandchildren, Michelle, Jessica, Jacqueline, William, Sandra, April, Phillip, Nichole and Joey; 27 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis (Raymond) Gilson, Merrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marian, Evangeline, BettyJane, Louise, Audrey, Kathryn, Rosella; brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Edward, Vernice, Ottis, Arnold, Louis, Freeman, David “Pete”; grandchildren, Tammy Schroedel and Lisa Przybyla.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Krueger-Nimsgern Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Noon). Services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023 with Chaplain Larry Mathein officiating and Military Honors at Krueger-Nimsgern Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
