Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Nov. 21, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday, Nov. 21:

Over the week our Lincoln County 911 Center received seven 911 nuisance calls/hang ups. The Lincoln County Deputies conducted 41 traffic stops with three resulting in OWI arrests. Within the county this week, there were 16 car vs. animal collisions.

On 11/15/2023 at approximately 21:45, a deputy on patrol attempted to stop a motorcycle that was traveling N/B on CTH K south of Merrill at 112 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The operator led the deputy on a pursuit, fleeing into the City of Merrill. The deputy ended the pursuit for safety reasons as the motorcycle continued at a high rate of speed on city streets. The deputy later located the bike in the City of Merrill and made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 18. After speaking with the party, he admitted to fleeing from the officer earlier. Subsequently, he was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail. He was booked into the jail for fleeing/eluding, resisting/obstructing, as well as cited for various traffic violations, including operating while suspended.

On 11/16/2023 at approximately 19:55, a deputy stopped a vehicle on CTH O and W. Bilby Rd. in the Town of Tomahawk for a speeding violation. Upon making contact with the driver a Tomahawk man, 38, the deputy noticed signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of sobriety tests and as a result of those tests was arrested for a 3rd offense of OWI. The driver also had a loaded shotgun in the car sitting next to him. He was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and booked in for OWI 3rd offense, going armed while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon.

On 11/17/2023 at approximately 17:29, a deputy stopped a vehicle after it was almost in a crash on S. Center Ave. and Pine Bluff Rd. in the City of Merrill. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Birnamwood man, 59, and noticed signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was placed under arrest for a violation of 1st offense OWI.

On 11/17/2023 at approximately 19:08, a deputy stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on CTH Q and Little Ave. in the Town of Scott. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 56, and noticed signs of impairment. The deputy placed the driver through a series of field sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, the driver was arrested for a 1st offense OWI. On 11/18/2023 at approximately 03:09, deputies were dispatched to an address on Greendale Rd. in the Town of Corning for a reported domestic dispute in progress. It was reported that a female was intoxicated and throwing things around the house and someone had been battered. Upon arrival, the deputies investigated the matter and arrested a Merrill woman, 21, for domestic disorderly conduct and battery. No injuries were reported as a result of the disturbance.
