Football: Hatchets fall to Southern Door in playoff matchup

BRUSSELS – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team traveled to Brussels, Wis., to take on Southern Door High School in a playoff matchup on Friday, Oct. 20.

The game marked the first-ever meeting between the Hatchets and the Eagles.

Tomahawk ultimately fell by a score of 48-7.

Southern Door held Tomahawk scoreless until late in the fourth quarter, when Brett Marheine returned a fumble 47 yards for a touchdown with four minutes left in the game. Caleb Dickens rushed for 86 yards on 17 carries.

The Hatchets finished the 2023 season with a 6-6 overall record and a 3-4 record in the Northwoods Football Conference.
