APPLETON – A Tomahawk grocery store employee’s bagging skills have earned her the opportunity to take part in a national competition.

Three Trig’s employees, representing stores from throughout the Northwoods, competed in the Great Wisconsin Bag-Off, held in Appleton on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

The Great Wisconsin Bag-Off, sponsored by the Wisconsin Grocers Association (WGA), promotes good organization, sportsmanship and friendly competition by judging grocery baggers’ speed, proper bag building technique, number of bags used and uniform bag weight, as well style, attitude and appearance.

Among those participating was Christina Powers, representing Trig’s in Tomahawk. Powers ultimately took first place, earning a trophy and a $500.00 prize. She also punched her ticket to next year’s national competition in Las Vegas, where she will compete against the country’s best baggers for the $10,000.00 top prize.

In a pair of Facebook posts, Trig’s congratulated Powers and thanked its Northwoods Bagging Team for its support and for cheering Powers to victory.
