James E. Carpenter Jr.

James E. Carpenter Jr., 79, Donie, Tex., passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023 at Fairview Healthcare Residence in Fairfield, Tex.

James (Jim) was a loving husband, devoted father and successful businessman who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

On Aug. 28, 1971, James was united in marriage with Joan, they celebrated 52 wonderful years together. Throughout his career, Jim excelled in the office equipment industry as a business and salesperson, working for Brother International, Oki Data, Konica Minolta and Sharp. His talent and dedication earned him numerous awards and recognition within his field. After retiring he volunteered for the U.S. Park Service and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary as a Vessel Examiner. He was elevated to Vice Flotilla Commander and earned the Auxiliary Commandant’s Letter of Commendation Ribbon Bar.

In addition to his professional achievements, Jim had a zest for life and loved to travel. He and his wife, Joan, embarked on many adventures, exploring exotic destinations. Jim had a passion for outdoor activities, including snowmobiling, skiing, golfing and scuba diving. One of his greatest joys was boating, spending time on the water with loved ones. Over the years, Jim crossed off many items from his bucket list, living life to the fullest.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, his sister Joanne, his children, Denice, Dori, Wendy and Dana. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Erica, Andrea, Whitney, Kristin, Karinn, Cassandra, Rebecca, Samantha, Parker, Mariah and Matthew. Furthermore, Jim leaves behind 23 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and legacy he shared. Jim was preceded in death by his father James and his mother Janet. To honor and celebrate his life, a Celebration of Life will be held on Oct. 15, 2023 in Donie, Tex. Jim will be remembered for his warm heart, humorous wit, adventurous spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
