Mary Kathryn Novak

Born in Tomahawk, Wis., to Frank and Jennie Theiler Mary K Attended St Mary’s School, graduating from Edgewood High School in Madison. She ventured out after attending college to eventually become a Stewardess for Capitol Airlines. While stationed in Pittsburgh she met Air Force pilot Michael Novak.

They married, moving to Madison Wis., Newfoundland, Canada, Sherman, Tex., and Sault Sté Marie, Mich. When LT. Col. Michael Novak retired they moved to San Antonio, where he began a second career as a teacher. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2002, happy together until Michael died in 2009.
Active members of St. Luke’s parish, Mary belonged to the Altar Society, the Glen Oaks Garden Club and the Martha Mary group.

Mary and Michael enjoyed every summer at their lake cottage in Tomahawk. Mary was an excellent cook, played golf, loved the water, played cards, enjoyed travelling and a good mystery book.
She always had a smile and a nice comment for those around her. She is survived by daughters Kathryn (Larry) Tarkington and Nancy (Timothy) Desmond as well as four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
