Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Sept. 25, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Sept. 25:

On 09/23/2023 a deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling N/B in the S/B lanes of traffic on USH 51. The deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, a Stevens Point woman, 31. The woman asked the deputy if she was traveling in the wrong lanes and stated she got on the highway at Lincoln Dr. The deputy assisted her with getting her vehicle turned around and she was cited for operating the wrong way on USH 51.

On 09/24/2023 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on USH 51 in the Tomahawk area. When stopped, the deputy made contact with the driver a Tomahawk man, 40, and found there to be clues that he was under the influence. The driver was placed through a series of sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was placed under arrest for a first offense of OWI. He was later released to a responsible party.

On 09/24/2023 deputies were called to the City of Tomahawk for what was reported to be a vehicle lockout with a one-year-old child locked in the car. After a short time, the deputies were able to unlock the vehicle and reunite the child with his mother. The child was frightened but unharmed.

There were a total of seven reported car vs. deer crashes this week, and one car vs. bear.
