For the Tomahawk Leader

OCONTO FALLS – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team traveled to Oconto Falls on Friday, Sept. 15 and fell by a score of 48-14.

The first half was all Panthers, who took a 42-0 lead into the locker room. Tomahawk was able to find the end zone twice in the second half, first on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Rex Reilly to Brayden Larson in the third quarter. The Hatchets’ second score came on a fourth quarter five-yard scamper from Ryan Larson, which was followed up by a successful extra point.

Oconto Falls tallied six more points in the third quarter on their way to the big win.

Through the air, Reilly went 8-17 with 48 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Reilly carried the ball 17 times for 124 yards. Brayden Larson, Ryan Larson, Jonah Dickens and Landyn Seymour also chipped in on the ground. Brayden Larson (five catches, 27 yards, one touchdown) and Dickens (three catches, 21 yards) were the Hatchets’ top receivers.

The Hatchets logged a total of 241 yards, outpaced by the Panthers’ 370. Along with two interceptions, Tomahawk lost one fumble, while Oconto Falls did not turn the ball over. Oconto Falls also did not commit a penalty, while Tomahawk’s three accounted for 40 yards.

Despite the lopsided score, Tomahawk won the time of possession battle, holding the ball for 26:55. The Panthers had possession for 21:05.

With the score, Tomahawk’s record falls to 3-3, and 1-2 in conference.

This week’s action

The Hatchets are scheduled to host Crivitz on Friday, Sept. 22. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
