For the Tomahawk Leader

MADISON – State Representative Calvin Callahan (R-Tomahawk) is accepting nominations for the 35th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year Award.

Callahan

Created in 2019, the Assembly-wide award “provides an opportunity to honor the hard work and dedication of our first responders throughout the state,” a release from Callahan’s office said.

Police officers, sheriff deputies, firefighters and EMS personnel are eligible to be nominated for a specific heroic action, significant professional achievement, their body of work over time or their length of service and commitment to the community, according to the release.

Nominations must be returned to Callahan’s office by Friday, Sept. 29. Nominations may be submitted online through Callahan’s website at www.RepCalvinCallahan.com or by emailing the name, contact information and a brief description of why the candidate is being nominated to [email protected].

The winner will be contacted and invited to the State Capitol in Madison for a special recognition ceremony alongside fellow award winners from each of Wisconsin’s 99 Assembly Districts.

“Last session, I had the honor of presenting this award to Ryan Picl, an officer with the Tomahawk Police Department,” Callahan stated. “This October, I look forward to recognizing another deserving individual for their service to our community.”
