BRANTWOOD – The Knox Creek Heritage Center (KCHC) will host one of its several yearly fundraising events this weekend.

“A Country Afternoon” will be held at KCHC, N4517 W. Knox Rd., Brantwood, on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The social gathering will feature hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, a beer tent, homemade Finnish bread, pulla (a cardamom braid bread) and more. The grounds will open at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. A homemade pie auction and live music by Finn Power will also be part of A Country Afternoon.

KCHC’s gift shop will be open, offering numerous books written by local authors.

The KCHC site features nine buildings and artifacts representing several ethnic groups in southeastern Price County. Antique logging, farming and blacksmith equipment, school and church memorabilia, photos, documents and more pieces of history dating back as far as the late 1800s are displayed at the Heritage Center and will be available to view during the event.

KCHC, founded in 1995 in an effort to preserve the heritage of the pioneers that settled the Northwoods, holds four annual fundraisers each year, including A Country Afternoon.

Kevin Wollemann, KCHC President, said the events allow the organization to raise money for various projects, with recent work including the construction of a new pavilion.

“Any donation, either time or monetarily, will help to make these dreams come true,” Wollemann stated, noting that a few of KCHC’s buildings are more than a century old and require maintenance. “We hope to see you all there for a great ‘Country Afternoon’ and a little bit of our local history. Good times can be had by all.”
