Dumpster Day, document shredding event slated for next weekend

TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk’s 17th annual Dumpster Day will coincide with a document shredding event next weekend.

Dumpster Day, open to city residents only, will be held at the City Garage, 415 W. Spirit Ave., on Saturday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Couches, recliners, coffee/end tables, dinette sets, mattresses, box springs, bedroom sets and rolled/tied carpets can be disposed of at no cost. Metal items, such as patio furniture, bed rails, stoves, refrigerators, air conditioners, vacuums and scrap iron/metals, can also be disposed of for free.

Building materials, items in plastic bags, medications and hazardous materials, such as paint and household cleaners, will not be accepted.

Costs for dispose electronic item disposal, open to all and sponsored by Tomahawk Iron and Metal, are as follows: Monitors/computers, $20.00; TVs 26 inches or less, $20.00; TVs 27 inches or more, $25.00 to $35.00; copiers and floor printers, $25.00; DVDs, stereos and typewriters, $5.00; desk top printers and fax machines, $5.00; 15-inch tires, $3.00; 16-inch tires, $4.00.

Boy Scout Troop 548 will provide roadside pickup for city residents unable to deliver unwanted items to the City Garage. Pre-registration and a $25.00 fee are required. To pre-register, contact City Hall at 715-453-4040 by 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.

Document shredding event

Document shredding services, provided by Confidential Records, will be offered at Crossbridge Community Bank, 15 E. Wisconsin Ave., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Dumpster Day.

The event, sponsored by Crossbridge and IncredibleBank, is open to all Lincoln County residents.

The service is free, but a donation of $5.00 per box is suggested. Proceeds will benefit Lincoln County Crime Stoppers.
