Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Aug. 28, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Aug. 28:

Over the week our Lincoln County 911 Center received nine 911 nuisance calls/hang ups. The Lincoln County Deputies pulled 57 traffic stops with four resulting in OWI convictions.

Within the county this week, there were seven car vs. animal collisions.

On 08/21/2023 around 00:21, Lincoln County Deputy on routine patrol pulled a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Hwy. 51 and County Rd. G. The vehicle was swerving and not stopping at stop signs. The deputy made contact with the driver, an Eagle River male, 43, who was showing signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was arrested for a first offense OWI violation.

On 08/21/2023 around 17:00, Lincoln County 911 Center received calls of a vehicle that rolled in the area of County Rd. D and Kings Rd. in the Township of Bradley. Lincoln County Deputies, Tomahawk EMS and Tomahawk Fire Department responded due to unknown injuries. Upon Tomahawk Fire Department’s arrival, dispatch was informed that the driver of the vehicle sustained no injuries. The vehicle was removed from the ditch and the scene was cleared. Nothing further.

On 08/25/2023 at approximately 17:00, Lincoln County 911 Center received a call of a crash with possible injuries near State Rd. 17 and County Rd. G in the Township of Merrill. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies, Merrill Fire Department and Merrill EMS responded to the scene. Upon arrival, it was determined one vehicle failed to yield to the right of way, causing the collision. Deputies on scene advised one patient sustained an arm injury and another patient had a swollen knee. Patients opted to take private auto to the hospital. The Lincoln County Highway Department was contacted to fix the stop sign at that intersection. Vehicles were removed and the scene was cleared.

On 08/26/2023 at approximately 07:00, Lincoln County Dispatch Center received a call stating there was an abandoned vehicle in the area of County Rd. E and Mistwood Dr. in the Township of Rock Falls. Lincoln County Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with an individual sleeping in the vehicle, a male 23, from Waukesha. Upon arrival, deputies noticed the vehicle had destroyed a stop sign and hit a mailbox down the road. The male was transported to Tomahawk Police Department and cited with first offense OWI and hit and run property adjacent highway. The male was released to a responsible party. Nothing further.

On 08/26/2023 at approximately 11:30, Lincoln County 911 Center received a call regarding vehicle windows being shot out in the area of County Rd. D and County Rd. B in the Township of Harrison. A female, 74, called advising the back window of her vehicle had been shot out. A male, 17, called advising he could hear things hit his vehicle too. Deputies arrived on scene and executed a canvas and limited foot search. The suspect was not located and no injuries were reported. Nothing further.

On 08/27/2023 at approximately 11:30, Lincoln County Dispatch received a call about a vehicle driving between speeds and almost running other vehicles off the road. This occurred in the area of County Rd. W and Riverview Ave. in the Township of Pine River. Lincoln County Deputy was able to locate the vehicle and pulled a traffic stop near the area of State Rd. 17 and Hinz Rd. Upon contact with the driver, the deputy placed the Oak Creek male, 63, under arrest. The deputy witnessed the individual vary speeds and crossed over the center line as well as the fog line several times. The 63 year old male was transported to the Lincoln County Jail and was cited for OWI and operating left of center. Nothing further.
