Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Aug. 21, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Aug. 21:

Over the week our Lincoln County 911 Center received six 911 nuisance calls/hang ups. The Lincoln County Deputies pulled 73 traffic stops with two resulting in OWI convictions.

On 08/19/2023 around 13:00, Lincoln County Deputies, Russell First Responders and Merrill EMS responded to an ATV crash with injury near Ski Hill Rd. in the town of Harrison. A male, 21, was driving an ATV when he lost control and struck a tree and rolled it. Patient went to the hospital via private auto.

On 08/19/2023 around 21:50, Lincoln County Deputy on routine patrol pulled a traffic stop in the area of Grand Ave. and Edgewater Dr. in the City of Merrill. Deputy observed the vehicle going 41 MPH in a 25 MPH zone. The deputy made contact with the driver, a Merrill man, 46, who was showing signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests, and as a result of those tests, he was arrested for a first offense OWI violation.

On 08/18/2023 around 12:00, deputies responded to the area of N8000 Block of Marquardt Rd. in the Township of Harrison for a report of child abuse/neglect. The reporting party advised they had found an autistic, nonverbal child walking naked on a trail in front of them. The reporting party followed the juvenile for some distance until they came upon Seven Island Lake Rd. From there, the child was followed by two Outagamie County Sheriff’s Deputies until Lincoln County Deputies could arrive on scene and take over the investigation. Deputies found that the juvenile victim had signs of injuries consistent with child neglect. The mother, a Weston woman, 71, was arrested for child neglect. All children in their care and control were transferred to a family member. The suspect was transported to the Lincoln County jail.

On 08/17/2023 around 21:00, deputies, Merrill EMS, and Merrill Fire Department responded to the area of Lake Rd. and County Rd. Q in the Township of Scott for a vehicle fire. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a vehicle with smoke coming from the hood. There weren’t any injuries reported and the vehicle sustained damage to the engine bay area. No further action was taken.

On 08/14/2023 around 19:00, deputies responded to the area of N11000 County Rd. A in the Township of Bradley for a fight in progress. It was reported that there was an active fight and two people were bleeding. Tomahawk EMS was also asked to respond to the address for the patients. Deputy on scene advised the altercation was between a male, 38; a male, 32; and a male, 49. It was determined that two of the male parties were “messing around” and the other male party stepped in causing a physical altercation. The 32-year old male was issued a disorderly conduct citation for his actions. Lincoln County Deputy advised all parties involved were heavily intoxicated and all denied EMS treatment.

On 08/14/2023 around 08:30, deputies responded to the area of N1600 Block of County Rd. W in the Township of Pine River for a reported court violation complaint. It was reported that a male Lincoln County inmate, 48, had gotten an unauthorized ride from a female, 45, to his place of employment. Our deputies responded to the address and learned that the male was in the restroom with the female. The male had been taken into custody for violation of court order and returned to the Lincoln County Jail for Huber violations.

On 08/14/2023 around 01:00, deputies responded to the area of N3100 Block of County Rd. K in the Township of Merrill for a reported noise complaint. It was reported that someone in the area was shooting off fireworks. Our deputies observed a male, 59, shoot two fireworks into the air. The male was informed that he needed a permit to launch fireworks. The male was warned and asked to discontinue the fireworks.

On 08/20/2023 around 18:00, deputies responded to the area of W4400 Block of Biscayne Bay in the Township of Merrill for a reported threats complaint. It was reported that a male party was threatening a male, 35, stating he wanted to cause him harm. Threats were reportedly made over text messages and HomeWAV. Deputies spoke with all parties involved in the incident and were told a female, 26, was planning to leave her current partner for the 35-year-old male. All parties involved were advised to discontinue contact with each other or other charges will likely be a result.
