TOMAHAWK – A group of local car enthusiasts recently sponsored a new bench that was placed in a Tomahawk park.
Art Moritz, Founder and President of the Summer Knights Car Club, said the proceeds to install the bench came from the several annual car shows the club is involved in, including the club’s own Father’s Day weekend event.
Each year, the 80-plus-member club chooses area charities to make donations to. In years past, the Summer Knights Car Club has contributed to the Tomahawk Food Pantry, Our Sisters’ House homeless shelter and the Lincoln County Humane Society.
This year, the club decided to donate funds to the Fredrick Place homeless shelter in Rhinelander, along with sponsoring a bench in Veterans Memorial Park in Tomahawk.
Moritz said the club plans to donate a similar bench elsewhere in the near future.
“Our donations (are) of no less than $500.00, which seems like not much, but it all helps in different ways,” Moritz stated, noting that as long as the club’s shows continue to be popular among automobile fans, the club will be able to continue its community involvement.
Moritz said he is appreciative of the Tomahawk community.
“When we go out for sponsorship, the Tomahawk businesses are very generous and have supported our club each and every year,” he stated. “We would like to thank them all, who keep our efforts and mission on track.”
