As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Aug. 16:
On 08-10-2023 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle in N. 4th St. in the City of Tomahawk for operating without tail lights. When attempting to stop the vehicle the driver turned his tail lights on. When stopped the deputy made contact with the driver, a Rhinelander man, 24. The driver advised that he was on probation, didn’t have a valid driver’s license and was supposed to have an ignition interlock device on his car, but did not. The deputy detected the odor of intoxicants and as such placed the driver through field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, he was placed under arrest for second offense OWI, along with a probation hold and other criminal charges. The driver was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
On 08-11-2023 a deputy on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on E. Main St. near Big Eddy Rd. in the City of Merrill. Upon making contact with the driver, a man, 22, from Bowling Green, Ohio, the deputy noticed an odor of marijuana. The driver than admitted to the presence of marijuana in the car and the fact that he had been smoking before driving. A deputy with special training in performing drug-related sobriety tests was called to the scene and did an observation and sobriety tests on the driver, and as a result, he was placed under arrest for OWI drug-related. He was later transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
