Geraldine ‘Gerry’ M. Juedes

Geraldine “Gerry” M. Juedes, age 91, of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at Rennes Health & Rehab Center in Weston, Wis. Geraldine was born on June 6, 1932, in Wausau, Wis., to the late Leonard and Gertrude (Karlen) Lang. Her teen years were occupied with music, playing the saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet with the Cliff Lang Jolly Dutchmen Polka Band where she also arranged the music for the seven-piece orchestra; she enjoyed this very happy and exciting era of her life.

Gerry married Joe Mroczenski Jr., on Nov. 14, 1951, in Marathon, Wis. They farmed in the Township of Rib Falls (Edgar, Wis.) where Joe passed away on Sept. 1, 1958. She then moved to Wausau where she met Ralph “Slip” Juedes. They were married on Feb. 27, 1960, in Wausau, then moved to Weston. She later joined the St. Agnes Catholic Church where she was active in the choir and was an organist for 15 years. When the children were grown, she satisfied another ambition which was working in retail. Gerry was employed for many years at the Shopko in Rothschild, Wis., where she developed many lasting friendships. After retiring, Ralph and Geraldine moved to the Tomahawk area making it their permanent residence and devoted much time to their family. Ralph preceded her in death on July 25, 2014. Gerry was truly loved and will be sadly missed.

Survivors include her children, MaryJo (Chuck) Mroczenski-Wildey, of Boonton, N.J., Darrell (Jean) Mroczenski, of Tomahawk, and Cheryl (Dennis) Juedes-Dobeck, of Colby, Wis.; her daughter-in-law (wife of her late son, Daniel), Robin Basta-Mroczenski, of Weston, Wis.; and her nieces, Trish Jumbeck, Pam Daniels, and Brenda Lang. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Bradley Mroczenski, Rachel Palmer, Amber Mroczenski, Amanda Jo Wildey, Emily Dobeck, and JoHanna Okrasinski; her great-grandchildren, Gavyn, Alli, and Lexi Palmer, Connor Kolzowski, Avery and Logan Mroczenski, and Josie Okrasinski; and her wonderful and supporting cousins, Elise Lang, Betty Jane Heil, Sister Marla Lang, and Sister Eileen Lang.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Gertrude; her first husband, Joe; her second husband, Ralph; her courageous and determined son, Daniel Mroczenski; her grandson, Joey Mroczenski; her great-grandson, Keegan Palmer; her brother, Clifford Lang; and her niece, Karen Phillipp.

Funeral services for Geraldine Juedes were held on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, 1 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Park in Wausau with entombment following services. Visitation took place at Restlawn from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of services at 1 p.m. Memorials are appreciated to the St. Mary’s Children’s Choir in Tomahawk.
