Georgia Mae Schreiber

Lake City, Fla.

May 16, 1935 – July 22, 2023

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Georgia “Jo” Schreiber, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 22 at her home surrounded by family. The fifth child born to the late Edward Henderson and Elsie Crass, in Tomahawk, she has been a resident of Florida since 1964. Jo graduated from Tomahawk High School where she was valedictorian and played first chair clarinet and was in the pep band. She married her husband, Gene Schreiber in 1956 and they shared their lives together for 67 years.

Jo played an extraordinary role as homemaker in the life of her four children and then began working at the Lake City Post Office until she retired in 1996. She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Parrish for over 50 years and was involved in several ministries. She was a woman of incredible kindness and saw the best in everything and everyone. Her humble nature made her a great listener; she was filled with wisdom that she would share when asked, had an admirable work ethic and will be remembered for a life well-lived and a person well-loved.

Jo enjoyed watching sporting events to “cheer-on” her grandchildren, vacations to National Parks, Alaska, Mexico, and Canada with her grandchildren, an annual trip to Oklahoma to visit great-grandchildren, attending Broadway shows in New York, and her Wednesday morning Bible Study. She was an avid reader, history buff, horse-lover, College football and baseball fan and loved her faithful dog Cilla. At the age of 81 she went on a pilgrimage to Rome and the following year to Fatima, Portugal.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Schreiber, her children, Gene Schreiber (Joy), Rene Carnes, Lisa Adel (Doug), Brian Schreiber (Kathy), nine grandchildren, Kim Moon (Todd), James Schreiber (Emily), Paul Dumstorf, Zach Dumstorf, Josh Adel, Jeremy Adel (Isabel), Joseph Adel, Cole Schreiber (Jordyn), Wyatt Schreiber (Rachel) and four great-grandchildren, Owen, Ava, Andrew and Easton. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, 11 a.m. at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1905 SW Epiphany Court, Lake City, Fla., 32025. In lieu of sending flowers, the family suggests a donation in support of Epiphany Catholic School, 1937 SW Epiphany Court, Lake City, Fla., 32025 or Haven Hospice, SVCC, 6037 W. U.S. Hwy. 90, Lake City, Fla., 32055. Please visit her memorial page at www.williamsthomasfuneralhome.com.
