As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, July 31:

On 07/26/2023 a deputy on routine patrol observed a car traveling N/B on Horn Lake Rd. in the Town of Birch. The deputy noticed the vehicle was traveling well over the speed limit, and it also matched the description of a vehicle that was possibly involved in a burglary. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, leading the deputy on pursuit. The deputy chased the vehicle for approximately 5.3 miles before the driver stopped and fled on foot. A potential suspect has been identified; the investigation continues. No injury or damage was done as a result of the pursuit.

On 07/27/2023, the evening of July 27, deputies were kept busy with widespread damage from storms that had passed through the area. Most calls consisted of trees down blocking the road or power lines down. Deputies responded to at least 18 weather-related calls due to the storm.

On 07-29-2023 the Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint where a vehicle was observed weaving all over the road N/B on USH 51. The R/P advised that the vehicle in question cut another driver off and was varying speeds. A deputy and a Wisconsin State Trooper that were dispatched to the call located the suspect vehicle. The deputy stopped the vehicle on USH 8 near CTH Y in the Town of Bradley. The deputy made contact with the driver, an Oconomowoc man, 46, and noticed signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of sobriety tests and as a result of those tests was placed under arrest for second offense OWI. The driver was transported to the Lincoln County Jail, where he was released after sobering up.
