Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: July 24, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, July 24:

07/17/2023 deputies responded to the area of the W4800 block of Ainsworth Ave. in the Town of Birch for a reported domestic disturbance in progress. It was reported that an Irma man, 38, and his wife, 32, got into a disagreement about how to hold their new born child that turned into an argument. During the argument the male subject threatened to kill his wife. The male subject fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. It was later learned that the male subject had warrants for his arrest and he had checked himself into the crisis center in Wausau. He will be summoned on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct. No injuries were reported as a result of the domestic.

07/21/2023 deputies responded to the area of the W2900 block of Maple Rd. in the Town of Pine River for a reported domestic dispute. It was learned that a Merrill man, 24, and his girlfriend, a Merrill woman, 23, got involved in an argument while driving home in their vehicle. The argument started when the male subject was talking with another female subject via text messaging and the girlfriend became upset. During the ensuing argument the male subject struck the female in her face. The male subject was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked on a charge of domestic battery.

On 07-22-2023 a deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for traveling the wrong way on CTH S near Military Rd. in the City of Tomahawk. The deputy made contact with the driver a Tripoli man, 50, who was showing signs of impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests he was arrested for a first offense OWI violation. Following a blood test at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital the driver was released to a responsible party.

On 07-22-2023 a deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for speed on CTH C and French Ridge Rd. in the Town of Schley. After making contact with the driver, a Deerbrook man, 59, he was found to be showing signs of intoxication. The subject was placed through a series of field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests he was arrested for first offense OWI. The subject was transported to Aspirus Merrill Hospital where a blood test was conducted, and then later turned over to Lincoln County Corrections.

On 07-22-2023 deputies responded to an injury crash of a motorcycle vs. deer on CTH H near CTH J in the Town of Birch. Upon arrival deputies found that motorcycle being operated by a Rhinelander man, 60, was traveling S/B on CTH H when a deer ran out in front of him and he struck the animal. The driver sustained unknown injuries as a result of the crash and was transported by Merrill Ambulance to Aspirus Merrill Hospital. CFS23015714

On 07-22-2023 deputies responded to a reported UTV crash with injuries in the area of Cranefoot Lake Rd. and Beaver Trail Rd. in the Town of Harrison. It was learned that a Mount Pleasant woman, 30, was operating her UTV on the trails when she lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a hard curve and struck a tree. The woman was transported by Tomahawk Ambulance to Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital for unknown injuries.

07-23-2023 deputies were sent to the area of Briarwood Ln. and CTH W in the Town of Pine River for a reported male subject who had fallen into the ditch and the R/P was unsure if the individual was injured. Upon arrival deputies located subject and found him to be a Merrill, man, 49. Further investigation revealed the male was under the influence of intoxicants and going through detox. It was found that the subject had been previously released on three different court cases and had a requirement to maintain absolute sobriety. The subject was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation and then later transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked on four counts of bail jumping.

There were seven car vs. deer crashes reported in the week, with one causing minor injuries.
