Local departments take part in live fire propane training

For the Tomahawk Leader

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Fire Department (TFD) hosted several local departments for a training exercise this week.

On Tuesday, June 6, TFD was joined by Nokomis, Merrill and Pine River firefighters for live fire propane training, provided by the Wisconsin Propane Education and Research Council (WiPERC) and led by instructors from Fire LLC, an organization that provides training and support to federal and state agencies, municipalities and industrial and commercial business.

Propane was provided by Hilgy’s LP Gas.

A post on TFD’s Facebook page said the training consisted of classroom instruction on the physical properties of propane, as well as a hands-on fire portion that focused on different fire scenarios, including a forklift, bulk tank and propane terminal piping props.
