Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: May 29, 2023

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, May 29:

A Merrill woman, 50, was taken into custody Sunday evening, May 28, following an incident at a residence in the Town of Pine River. A preliminary investigation indicated the woman had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation with another party. As a result, the woman will face charges of battery, disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

A Wausau man, 83, was taken into custody Sunday afternoon, following a traffic stop in the Town of Merrill. A preliminary investigation indicated the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office’s E911 Communications Center had received a complaint regarding the man’s driving behavior. A deputy located the vehicle the man was driving on County Rd. K north of the City of Merrill and performed a traffic stop based on observed driving behavior. Following roadside field sobriety testing, the man was taken into custody on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated. He was cited and later released to a responsible party.

A Merrill teen, 17, was taken into custody Monday morning, following separate incidents in the Town of Corning. A preliminary investigation indicated on two separate occasions, the teen drove two different vehicles without the owner’s consent. As a result, the teen will face two counts of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

A Nekoosa man, 35, was taken into custody early Monday morning, following a traffic stop in the Town of Pine River. A deputy on patrol on U.S. Hwy. 51 stopped the vehicle near mile marker 209 after observing it parked on the side of the highway. Upon contact with the driver, the investigating deputy observed signs indicative of impairment. The man’s driver’s license was found to be revoked and his vehicle lacked an Ignition Interlock Device (IID), which was required to have been installed in the vehicle. Following roadside field sobriety testing, the man was taken into custody on a third-offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, failure to install an IID and misdemeanor bail jumping.

An Irma woman, 44, and an Irma man, 45, were taken into custody on the night of Wednesday, May 24, following a traffic stop in the Town of Skanawan. A deputy on patrol on County Rd. V east of U.S. Hwy. 51 stopped the vehicle the pair were traveling in after discovering the vehicle was equipped with a defective exhaust system. Following a positive alert by K9 Poncho, a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, investigating deputies located six grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. As a result, the pair was taken into custody on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.

An Irma woman, 43, was taken into custody earlier Wednesday evening, following a traffic stop in the Town of Merrill. A deputy on patrol on County Rd. K stopped the vehicle near the intersection with Olivotti Rd. after observing the vehicle the woman was operating traveling 85 MPH in a 55 MPH speed zone. Upon contact with the driver, the investigating deputy observed signs indicative of impairment. Following roadside field sobriety testing, the woman was taken into custody on a first-offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was cited and later released to a responsible party.
