Tomahawk golfers host GNC meet, triangular at Inshalla

TOMAHAWK – Last week, the Tomahawk Hatchet golf team competed in a Great Northern Conference (GNC) meet and a triangular, both at Inshalla Country Club in Tomahawk.

GNC meet

On Tuesday, May 16, in their final GNC meet of the season, the Hatchets finished in seventh place.

Sawyer Hanna was the top Tomahawk golfer with a score of 92 strokes, followed by Austin Lamer with 96, Caiden Reichelt with 101, Owen Dickrell with 104, Carson Childers with 104 and Drew Albert with 105.

Team scores: Lakeland, 326; Rhinelander, 343; Mosinee, 352; Northland Pines, 352; Medford, 358; Antigo, 384; Tomahawk, 396.

The Lakeland Thunderbirds crowned GNC champions for the 2023 season.

Mosinee’s Jett Walters was named Player of the Year, while the Coach of the Year award went to Matt Hasse of Medford.

Dickrell was named Second Team All-Conference. Hanna received Honorable Mention.

Triangular

The Hatchets took part in a triangular with Northland Pines and Ashland on Friday, May 19.

Northland Pines finished in first place with a score of 165, followed by Tomahawk with 170 and Ashland with 193.

Dickrell had the best score of the day with 38 strokes. Lamer finished with a 42, Hanna 43, Albert 47 and Childers 52.

The JV Hatchets ended the day with a score of 213, while Northland Pines’ JV squad finished with 241.

JV Hatchet scores: Caiden Reichelt, 48; Trevor Schumann, 50; Riley Massa, 53; Nathan Reimer, 58; Quentin Susa, 62; Sophia Kiser, 67; Lydia Ziert, 69; Sean Towne, 84.

Regionals

Regionals are slated to take place at Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake on Tuesday, May 23.
