As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, May 15:
A Milwaukee woman, 42, was taken into custody Saturday morning, May 13, following a traffic stop in the Town of Rock Falls. A deputy on patrol on U.S. Hwy. 51 stopped the vehicle the woman was operating near mile-marker 217 after observing the vehicle traveling at 78 MPH in a 65 MPH speed zone. Upon contact with the woman, the investigating deputy noted signs of impairment. Following roadside field sobriety testing, the woman was taken into custody on a first offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and later released to a responsible party.
A Merrill man, 32, was taken into custody Friday morning, May 12, following a one-vehicle crash in the Town of Rock Falls. Deputies responded to the report of a vehicle on private property, just after 2 a.m. on North Star Dr. Upon arrival, the man was located asleep in the driver’s seat of a vehicle. A preliminary investigation indicated the vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree. Upon the driver waking up, the investigating deputy noted signs of impairment. As a result, the man was taken into custody on a third-offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
A Pembine man, 57, was injured during a two-vehicle crash which occurred Thursday afternoon, May 11, near the intersection of County Rd. G and State Rd. 17 in the Town of Merrill. A preliminary investigation indicated the man was on a motorcycle southbound on State Rd. 17 when it struck the passenger side of a vehicle being operated by a Merrill teen, 17. That vehicle was northbound on State Rd. 17 and had attempted to make a left turn on to County Rd. G when it was struck by the motorcycle. The driver of the northbound vehicle will be cited for failure to yield right-of-way. The operator of the motorcycle was transported by Merrill Fire Department ambulance to Wausau Aspirus Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
A Kronenwetter woman, 35, and a Merrill woman, 44, avoided injury following a two-vehicle crash Sunday morning, May 7, in the Town of Pine River. A preliminary investigation indicated a vehicle being operated by the Kronenwetter woman was entering State Hwy. 64 from the U.S. Hwy. 51 off-ramp when it struck the other vehicle involved that was eastbound on State Rd. 64. The Kronenwetter woman will be cited for failure to yield right of way.
