THS forensics students earn medals at State

DEFOREST – Numerous Tomahawk High School students earned medals at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech and Dramatic Arts Association’s State Festival at DeForest High School on Saturday, April 22.

In Prose, Murphy Koth, Landon Plantenberg, and Lydia Shaney earned silver medals, while Christian Lashua earned a bronze.

Cedar Hofmann earned a silver in Poetry, while AJ Schertz received a silver in Farrago

In Group Interpretation, “Relationships,” consisting of Joey Reiter, Clyde Kangas, Trey Morrison, Nik Stefanich and alternate Caisson McPherson, received silver medals, as did Sarah Kallerud, Kael Oares, Damian Ramirez-Gonzales and Delilah in “The Scariest Thing.” 

Greyson Marta received a perfect score in Radio Speaking to earn a gold medal.

Two play acting groups also received gold – Jenny Meza and Brynnen Stefan for “Murder Will Out” and Kennedi Kromm and Xan Sutton for “I’m Trying to go Vegan so I’m Going to Have to Eat You…”

Arawen Alberg, Izzy Lee and Maggie Lashua earned gold medals in Group Interpretation for “Exploration.”

Coach Michele Balda congratulated the entire team, noting that she, along with coaches Herbison and Derleth, are “incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication each of them put forth the entire season.”
