Paul D. Hanse, 70, of Rocky Rd., Tomahawk, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family following a battle with brain cancer.

Paul was born May 9, 1052 in Buffalo, Minn., to Orville and Dorothy (Fieblekorn) Hanse. The Hanse family moved to Tomahawk in 1960. Paul graduated from Tomahawk High School in 1970 and was married to Linda Gilbert on Aug. 14, 1971 in Rhinelander. Linda passed away in 2007. Paul worked at Goldbecks Sawmill in Heaford Junction before starting at PCA Tomahawk Mill in 1979. He worked in shipping until his retirement in 2018. In his spare time he enjoyed yardwork, gardening, ice fishing, carpentry, and laying concrete. Paul also enjoyed socializing at local establishments.

Surviving Paul are his four sons, Keith (Nicole) Hanse, Kevin (Kerri) Hanse, Kyle (Ashley Miller) Hanse, all of Tomahawk, and Kim (Catlin Martin) Hanse of Mosinee. He is further survived by his sister, Lou Ann Beiler of Tomahawk, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Linda, and siblings, Larry Hanse and Linda Kniess.

The funeral service for Paul Hanse will be held on Thursday, March 2, at 3 p.m. from the Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Stephen Gillet will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Rapids Cemetery in the spring. The Hanse family will receive friends at the Krueger Family Funeral Home Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. Krueger Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
