As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Jan. 30:

A woman, 33, from Orlando, Fla., was taken into custody Sunday night, Jan. 29, following an altercation at a residence on County Rd. A in the Town of Bradley. During preliminary investigation, it was discovered the woman was intoxicated and became involved in a verbal altercation, which turned physical, with another female party inside the residence. As a result, the woman will face charges of domestic violence-related disorderly conduct and battery.

A Merrill man, 18, was taken into custody Saturday afternoon, Jan. 28, after a vehicle he was operating was discovered in a ditch along State Rd. 107 in the Town of Rock Falls. During preliminary investigation, it was discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the day. The man reportedly gave conflicting accounts to investigating deputies of what had actually occurred. As a result, the man will face a felony charge of operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer and two misdemeanor charges of bail jumping.

Recent snowfall and subsequent poor road conditions kept deputies busy throughout the day on Friday, Jan. 27, as they responded to several crashes and vehicles in the ditch. One such crash resulted in three people sustaining minor injuries on Friday afternoon. Deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 8 and County Rd. L in the Town of Bradley. Preliminary investigation of the incident indicated a pickup truck driven by a Tomahawk man, 63, was westbound on U.S. Hwy. 8 when it collided with an eastbound delivery truck, which lost control and entered the westbound lane of travel. The pick-up truck driver was transported for medical attention by Tomahawk ambulance. His two passengers were transported by private vehicle.

A camper was reported to be a total loss following a rollover crash Friday morning. Deputies responded to the crash just before 9 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 51 near the intersection with County Rd. V in the Town of Birch. Preliminary investigation indicated the truck and camper driven by a Woodruff man, 84, were northbound when wind reportedly caused the trailer to begin fishtailing. The truck and camper subsequently jackknifed before the truck rolled on its side and the camper rolled onto it its roof, coming to a rest in the median. U.S. Hwy. 51 northbound was reduced to one lane for just over two hours while the vehicles were removed. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

A Merrill man, 29, was taken into custody following a traffic stop Wednesday evening, Jan. 25. A deputy on patrol stopped the vehicle near the intersection of Pope Rd. and Lily Ln. in the Town of Merrill after observing the vehicle the man was operating fail to yield at a stop sign, then accelerate to 71 MPH in a 35 MPH speed zone.  Upon contact with the driver, the investigating deputy, who is also a certified Drug Recognition Expert, noted signs indicative of drug impairment. As a result, the man was taken into custody on charges of operating while under the influence-3rd offense and operating after revocation. The man was also found to have outstanding warrants for his arrest from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Marathon County Sheriff’s Office.
