Gilbert A. Erickson

Gilbert A. Erickson, age 80, of Tomahawk, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, at Country Terrace Assisted Living. Gilbert was born on June 17, 1942, in Chicago, Ill. to the late John and Beatrice (Woehrle) Erickson. Gil grew up in the Chicago area and attended school there. He was a 1960 graduate of East Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Ill.

Gil worked at Inorganic Plastics in Franklin Park. He was then drafted into the United States Army. He served in the Army in Germany for two years. Gil was married to Bonnie Kueker on Jan. 20, 1973. He and Bonnie moved to Tomahawk in 1979. Bonnie passed away in 1989.

Gil worked for Northland Stainless and Samuel Pressure Vessel Group in Tomahawk as a machinist for 40 years, retiring in May of 2019.

Gil enjoyed pigeon racing with his brother, Dale and was a member Northcentral Wisconsin Pigeon Flying Club. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed watching football and old westerns. He liked eating “Gene & Jude’s Hotdogs” and ice cream. Gil loved living in the Northwoods, fishing, and feeding the deer. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family; especially his two daughters.

Survivors include his daughters, Sarah (Mickey) Loka of Tomahawk, and Tricia (Brian) Miller of La Crosse, Wis.; his two brothers, John (Theresa) Erickson of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Raymond (Patricia) Erickson of Tomahawk; his sisters-in-law, Alberta Erickson of Tomahawk, Kitty Kueker of Cary, Ill., and Cheryl (Al) Caccarello of Palatine, Ill.; his granddaughter, Briana Juedes and great-grandson, Brantley Barlowski, both of Tomahawk. Gil is also survived by his cat, “Kitty.”

Gil was preceded in death by his parents, John and Beatrice Erickson, his wife, Bonnie Erickson, a brother, Dale Erickson, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Lucille Kueker, his brother-in-law, Ken Kueker, and sister-in-law, Diane Warndorf.

Funeral services for Gil Erickson will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Generations Funeral Home, Tomahawk, with Rev. Larry Mathein to officiate. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. at Generations. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Tomahawk in the spring.
