Middle school grapplers find success in Marathon, Merrill scrambles

MARATHON – The Tomahawk Hatchet middle school wrestling team recently competed in Marathon and Merrill.

Marathon

The middle school grapplers opened their season on Monday, Jan. 23, when they made the trek to Marathon to take part in a six-team scramble.

Joining Tomahawk and hosts Marathon in the scramble were Merrill, Stevens Point, Stratford and Tri-County.

The following wrestlers came away with at least one victory on the night: Fletcher Bauman, Hudson Evans, Skyler Harper-Dahlvig, Harman Hoffman, Colton McMeekin, Cash Olson and Zander Zehner.

Merrill

On Friday, Jan. 27 the middle school Hatchet wrestlers traveled to Merrill to participate in the conference and scramble tournaments.

Place winners in the conference tournament were Zander Zehner, finishing in 2nd place, and Cash Olsen, finishing 6th. Also winning matches but not placing in the conference tournament were Hudson Evans and Fletcher Baumann.

In the scramble round robin tournament, place winners were Tanner Wanta and Aiden Cruz, first place; and Harman Hoffman and Dawson Jones, second.

The TMS Hatchets finished with 20 wins against 12 losses on the evening, and all wrestlers did very well.
