LINCOLN COUNTY – A vacancy on the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors was filled this week.

The board voted on Tuesday, Jan. 17 to appoint Jim Meunier as District 17’s new Supervisor. District 17 represents Wards 3 and 4 in the City of Tomahawk.

The seat was vacated by George Brixius, who was elected to the board in April 2022 after defeating incumbent and then-Board Chair Kevin Koth.

Board Chair Don Friske announced the District 17 vacancy during the board’s meeting last month.

Meunier will serve the remainder of Brixius’s unexpired term, which ends on April 15, 2024.

Brixius is the second Supervisor to resign from the board in recent months.

Last year, Nathan Peterson resigned as Supervisor of District 5, which represents Wards 9 and 10 in the City of Merrill. An incumbent, Peterson was reelected in April 2022 after running unopposed.

The board appointed Peterson’s replacement, Don Wendorf, in Dec. 2022.
