Krista Caley Hinsa, age 32, passed away surrounded by her family on Dec. 31, 2022 at her childhood home in Tomahawk.

Krista was born on Nov. 10, 1990 to Russ and Wendy (Carlson) Hinsa. She was a 2009 graduate of Tomahawk High School. After high school, she attended UW-Marathon and UW-Milwaukee. Krista was passionate about her animals – especially her dogs and barrel racing with her horses. She was fearless. Krista was a risk taker and loved her experience skydiving. Krista loved being in the sun and on the beach, near the ocean or on Lake Nokomis. She had travelled many places, including the Caribbean and to Sweden and Finland. She was extremely proud of her Swedish and Finnish heritage.

Krista is survived by her parents – Russ and Wendy Hinsa of Tomahawk; her sister – Lacey (Matt) Piekarski of Stevens Point; three nieces – Emilia, Eliza and Ella; and maternal grandmother – Betty J. Carlson of Prentice. Krista is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents – Edna and Henry Hinsa, and maternal grandfather – Warren E. Carlson.

The Celebration of Life for Krista Hinsa took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Julie Sinkula officiated. Visitation took place the evening of Friday, Jan. 6 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Visitation continued on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church.

Memorials made in Krista’s name may be made to a Humane Society of your choice. Krueger Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements. You may view the full obituary and leave online condolences at www.kruegerfamilyfuneral.com.
