Kathleen ‘Kay’ LaMere

Kathleen “Kay” LaMere, 84, a lifelong resident of Tomahawk, passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2022 at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.

Kay was born Jan. 11, 1938 in Tomahawk to Woodrow and Genevieve (Gruden) Steinhafel. She was married to David LaMere Feb. 2, 1957, also in Tomahawk. Dave passed away in 2002. Kay attended Tomahawk Schools and then St. Joseph Nursing School in Marshfield. She had worked in x-ray and surgery at Sacred Heart Hospital and also worked at the Tomahawk Medical Center, spending 25 years caring for our community in health care. Kay enjoyed working in her yard and playing with her grandchildren. She and Dave spent many hours on their boat on Lake Superior.

Kay is survived by two children, Jeff (Kelly) LaMere and Laura (Tim) Weber, all of Tomahawk. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dave, daughter, Kim Hamann, and two siblings, Judy Steinhafel and William Steinhafel.

A celebration of Kay LaMere’s life will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5 at the Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Rev. Mark Gass will officiate.
