LINCOLN COUNTY – Two vacant positions in Lincoln County were recently filled, while another vacancy was created.

The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of a new Finance Director during its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and a new District 5 Supervisor took the oath of office during the meeting.

Applications are currently being accepted for Lincoln County’s recently-vacated District 17 Supervisor post.

Finance Director appointed; District 5 Supervisor sworn in

The board voted unanimously to appoint Samantha Fenske as Lincoln County’s new Finance Director. Fenske replaces former Finance Director Dan Leydet, who recently retired after serving 24 years in the position.

Don Wendorf was sworn in as District 5 Supervisor.

District 5 represents Wards 9 and 10 in the City of Merrill.

Wendorf replaces former District 5 Supervisor Nathan Peterson, who resigned earlier this year. Wendorf will serve the remainder of Peterson’s unexpired term, which ends on April 15, 2024.

Applications sought for District 17 post

Applications are being accepted for the vacant position of District 17 Supervisor on the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors.

Board Chair Don Friske announced the vacancy during the board’s meeting last week.

The seat was vacated by George Brixius, who was elected in April.

District 17 represents Wards 3 and 4 in the City of Tomahawk.

The vacancy was recently posted on the Lincoln County website at www.bit.ly/3WkhGHs.

The posting says preference will be given to applications received by 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29.

The board is expected to approve the appointment to fill the vacancy during its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The successful candidate will serve the remainder of Brixius’s unexpired term, which ends on April 15, 2024.

Interested persons residing in the district may submit letters of interest to Lincoln County Clerk Chris Marlowe at [email protected] or Don Friske, c/o Lincoln County Clerk’s Office, 801 N. Sales St., Suite 201, Merrill, Wis. 54452.

For a description of the District 17 boundaries, call the Lincoln County Clerk’s office at 715-539-1019 or visit www.bit.ly/3hRdAY7.
