Doris Irene Rueter

Doris Irene Rueter, of Waupaca, Wis., died on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at the age of 94, while in hospice care from natural causes.

Doris was born on May 18, 1928 to George and Rose Klicman in Chicago, Ill. After Doris graduated from Catholic high school in 1946, she went onto become an executive secretary for the Sears and Roebuck Company at their corporate headquarters in Chicago.

In 1956, Doris met Elmer Henry Rueter Jr. in Chicago through an arranged blind date by a childhood friend of Doris’. The two were married in Chicago on Dec. 28, 1957. Doris and Elmer (nicknamed Marty) went on to have three children, Martin, Maria and James Rueter. In 1962 they moved from County Club Hills, Ill., to Tomahawk, where Doris and the family spent most of their life.

Doris was a devoted wife and mother, where she spent her time as homemaker for the family, and was actively involved in church and supported the children’s outside activities in Scouting, where her boys achieved Eagle Scout, and she served as her daughter’s Girl Scout leader.

Doris was predeceased in death by her father, George Klicman; mother, Rose Swanson; brother, George Klicman; brother, Robert Klicman; and husband, Elmer. She is survived by her son Martin (Susan) Rueter of Fenton, Mo., daughter Maria (Greg) Miskinis of Waupaca, Wis. and son James Rueter of Waupaca, Wis. She is further survived by four adult grandchildren – Taylor Miskinis and Kendal Miskinis of Waupaca, Jordan (Amanda) Rueter of Springfield, Mo., and Jared Rueter of Fenton, Mo., and a great-granddaughter Kylie.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the nurses and staff of Waupaca Eldercare and St. Joseph Residence Center in New London, Wis., for their compassionate care of our mother while in hospice.

Services were held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, Wis., on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 12 p.m. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Final burial will be in Calvary Cemetery located in Tomahawk, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Arthritis Foundation, an organization Doris felt strongly about.
