THS cross country team holds Awards Night ceremony

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet cross country team held its Awards Night ceremony at the high school auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 17, where athletes were honored for their hard work and accomplishments over the course of the 2022 season.

The ceremony concluded with a “Memories 2022 Season” video created by Bridgette Reilly.

Award winners

Rookies of the Year (biggest Impact to the program by first year athlete; must be an athlete new to the program): Jacob Riemer, boys; Faith Derleth, girls.

Most Improved (biggest improvement from the past season): Taje Casey, boys; Elizabeth Lee, girls.

Coaches Awards (most coachable athlete that does all facets of Tomahawk cross country): Sam Zastrow, boys; Morgan Hansmann, girls.

Scholar Athletes (All 4.000 GPAs, first quarter): Faith Derleth, Halle Derleth, Morgan Hansmann.

Captains Awards (team leaders): Ty Anthes, boys; Serena Reinke, girls.

Punchy Reich Memorial (voted by only the student-athletes as someone who displays the following traits: showed the most leadership in practices, showed the most leadership at meets and was a positive role model for others on the team): Jacob Towle.

GNC All-Conference, boys: Presley Gutbrod, second team; Sam Zastrow, second team; Owen Dickrell, second team; Brett Borchardt, honorable mention.

GNC All-Conference, girls: Rachael Reilly, first team; Alli Palmer, second team; Morgan Hansmann, honorable mention; Halle Derleth, honorable mention.

Most Valuable Runner: Presley Gutbrod, boys; Rachael Reilly, girls.

State Qualifier Award: Rachael Reilly.

Service Award: Aimee Dickrell and Laural Reinke

Letter winners, girls

Freshmen: Faith Derleth (1), Abigail Micke (1), Lydia Shaney (1).

Sophomores: Alli Palmer (2).

Juniors: Halle Derleth (2), Marie Gorell (2), Izzy Lee (2), Kambyl Mattke (3), Rachael Reilly (3), Robin Schmidt (2).

Seniors: Morgan Hansmann (3), Serena Reinke (4).

Freshmen: Jeremiah Johnson (1).
