John A. Edwards Jr., age 75, of Tomahawk passed away on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at his home under the care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.
John was born Dec. 1, 1946 in Chicago Heights, Ill., to the late John and Victoria (Strezlec) Edwards Sr. He grew up in Chicago Heights and attended school there. John was married to Jo Ann Page on April 29, 1967 in Midlothian, Ill.; she survives.
He later worked at his uncle’s Sinclair gas station. He was also an engine mechanic. He worked at Kimble Glass in Chicago Heights, and also worked at General Electric. John then went to work for Calumet Steel and stayed there for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
Upon retirement in 2000, John and Jo Ann moved to the Tomahawk area. He loved fishing, so much so, that his wife and brother called him Babe Jr. He also enjoyed bowling and playing on league. He loved the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. But he also liked the Milwaukee Brewers and the Badgers. John liked NASCAR. He also enjoyed living in the Northwoods. He was an all around handyman and loved woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Edwards of Tomahawk, his son, David Edwards of Tomahawk, his daughter, Karie (Paul) Gilliam of St. John, Ind., along with many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria Edwards, Sr., his brother, Robert, and his sister, Judy.
