IRMA – The Tomahawk and Merrill Girl Scouts last week participated in the 20th year of Applefest at Camp Birch Trails in Irma.

As part of the annual community service project, the Girl Scouts made 34 apple pies on Saturday, Oct. 22 and delivered them to local senior living facilities and residents.

The girls spent the morning peeling three bushels of apples before assembling the pies. While the pies baked, the girls did crafts and painted pumpkins outside while enjoying the beautiful fall day.

After lunch, which included sampling freshly-made applesauce, the Scouts went on a hike around the camp, exploring the facilities.

Before leaving camp, the Scouts had a chance to taste the pies they had made.

The Tomahawk Girl Scouts then delivered pies throughout the area.

The Girl Scouts also thanked Trig’s for hosting their can collection trailer, the revenue from which helps support projects such as Applefest.
