TOMAHAWK – On Oct. 10, 2022, Mary Jane Weege turned 99-years-old at Milestone Senior Living in Tomahawk.

Days before her birthday, when staff asked her how old she was going to be, she teased, “That’s confidential,” and then laughed, saying, “I think 79.”

Teaming up with her son and daughter-in-law, we planned a party. Some family and her Milestone friends attended. She came strolling into the well-decorated dining room, where everyone waited for her. She had on a velvet Queen Cape and tiara, wearing the biggest smile.

Mr. Constantine played “Happy Birthday” while we all sang.

Her family ordered a customized cake with her Granddog on it, she blew out the candles and we all cheered her on with a glass of champagne.

Our goal was to collect 99 cards for her, and with the help of St. Mary’s School children, we exceeded our goal.

Mary Jane was very gracious, thanking everyone individually for coming, dancing with her daughter-in-law, listening to the music and colleting her cards.

Mary Jane had a fun-filled afternoon and was exhausted by evening.

Her goal is to make 100, and she wants to celebrate it all over again.
