For the Tomahawk Leader
MERRILL – Later this month, the public will have a chance to learn about the three candidates running for Lincoln County Sheriff.
A forum featuring incumbent Sheriff Ken Schneider, Garrett Dinges and Marlyn Woodward – will be held at the Merrill Enrichment Center, 303 N. Sales St., Merrill, on Monday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The forum will be co-hosted by the Tomahawk Public Library, T.B. Scott Free Library, the League of Women Voters and UW-Madison Extension-Lincoln County.
A release from Extension said the forum will “provide the public with an opportunity to see the candidates, listen to their ideas for the future of the Lincoln County Sherriff’s Department and hear the candidates’ responses to citizen concerns.”
The public can submit questions for the candidates in advance through the Tomahawk Public Library website (www.tomahawk.lib.wi.us/) or the T.B. Scott Library website (www.tbscottlibrary.org/).
Written questions can also be submitted at the libraries.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the day of the forum, those in attendance can submit questions by filling out a card and placing it into a box.
“Questions will be collected and sorted by topic in order to ensure a wide range of issues are covered,” Extension stated. “All three candidates will provide opening and closing statements as part of the forum.”
Schneider, running on the Republican ticket, and Dinges, an Independent, will appear on ballots on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Woodward, a registered write-in candidate, will not appear on ballots.
