LCHD offering free flu vaccines to Lincoln County students

School District of Tomahawk clinic slated for Thursday, Oct. 27

For the Tomahawk Leader

LINCOLN COUNTY – The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) will hold several flu vaccine clinics for Lincoln County students this fall.

The flu vaccine will be offered for free for students in 4K through 12th grade.

“We are pleased to be able to offer this service at no charge for students this school year,” said Shelley Hersil, LCHD Health Officer/Director. “Being able to save parents time and help keep kids healthy and in school is a benefit for all. An annual flu shot is the best way to prevent the flu and is recommended for everyone six months and older.”

The following flu vaccine clinics are scheduled in Lincoln County:

  • Merrill High School, Tuesday, Oct. 18
  • Prairie River Middle School, Tuesday, Oct. 25
  • School District of Tomahawk, Thursday, Oct. 27
  • Lincoln County Youth Flu Clinic, Thursday, Nov. 3, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., LCHD, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill. Students enrolled in 4K, elementary and private schools are encouraged to attend. All Lincoln County students are welcome.

LCHD noted that the schedule is dependent on flu vaccine availability. Any changes in the schedule will be communicated to parents and guardians.

Flu shots and flu nasal mist will be available for students.

Pre-registration is required for all clinics. No walk-ins will be accepted. The deadline to pre-register is noon on the day before clinics. Pre-register at www.bit.ly/3xLtCbc.

“By completing the pre-registration form, parent(s)/guardian(s) are giving consent to LCHD to vaccinate their child with the flu vaccine while at school,” LCHD stated. “Parent(s)/guardian(s) do not need to be present. Please have your child dress appropriately so their upper arm is easily accessible the day of clinic. “
