Judith R. Vander Sanden, age 82, of Tomahawk, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022 at Country Terrace under the care of Compassus Hospice.
Judy was born on May 20, 1940 in Tomahawk to Clarence and Dorothy (Tripp) Lovsletten. She was married to Martin Vander Sanden Jr. on Sept. 2, 1961.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all that knew her. Judy was a CNA at Sacred Heart Hospital in her early years, and then happily spent her life as a loving wife, mom, and homemaker. She loved playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and watching the Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers. Judy’s smile and laugh came so easily, and her kindness was felt by everyone. Blessed with a great sense of humor, she loved to tell a good story, or hear one. Her consideration for others was always apparent and made her so easy to love.
Judy made Country Terrace Assisted Living her home for the past three years, and she loved the residents and staff there like her own family, many of which called her “mom” or “grandma.”
Judy is survived by her husband – Martin of Tomahawk; children – Joan (Larry) Hurtis and Thomas Vander Sanden, all of Tomahawk. She is further survived by one grandson – Jacob (Toni) Gorecki; step-grandchildren – Patrick Hurtis and Sheila (Jenni) Hurtis; and her brother – Gordon (Vickie) Lovsletten. A Memorial Mass for Judy Vander Sanden was celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Louis Maram Reddy officiated. Visitation took place on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12 p.m.
