Grace O. Ball

Grace O. Ball, age 99, of Tomahawk, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Aspirus Tomahawk Hospital. Grace was born in Alcester, S.D., on July 5, 1923, to the late Ephraim and Ruth (Engstrom) Hamlin.

Grace’s family lived in Michigan and Illinois, where her father was a pastor and where Grace played the organ. She graduated from Kelvyn Park High School in Illinois. After graduation, Grace was employed at an ammunition factory during World War II. She was a former member of the Des Plaines Ladies of Elk Club and a faithful member of the Berean Baptist Church of Tomahawk, where she valued and cherished her church family.

Survivors include her son, Richard Christensen; her daughter, Kay Christensen; one sister, Elelyn Nightingale; and her sisters-in-law, Patricia Alberg and Joan Ball. Grace is further survived by 7seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor Ephraim and Ruth Hamlin; her husband, James Ball; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Timm; her brother-in-law, Howard Ball; and her stepdaughter, Sandra Iacomini, and stepson, James Ball Jr.

Memorial services for Grace Ball were held on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at 6 p.m., at Generations Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Pastor Charles Scheele officiated. The family received friends for visitation from 4 p.m. until the time of services at 6 p.m. Inurnment was held at the Greenwood Cemetery.
