Football: Hatchets fall to Crivitz in road matchup

CRIVITZ – The Tomahawk Hatchet football team traveled to Crivitz on Friday, Sept. 23 and fell by a score of 44-13.
The Hatchets struggled to move the ball in the game, tallying 77 total yards. The Wolverines finished the game with 456 total yards.
Tomahawk had a tough time getting the run game going, earning four yards on 18 attempts, while Crivitz was able to rack up 381 rushing yards on 42 attempts.
Tomahawk found more success through the air. Quarterback Tyler Jablonski completed seven of 14 passes for one touchdown and one interception. Crivitz tallied 75 passing yards.
The Hatchets had two first downs in the game, while the Wolverines had 18.
Conversions on third and fourth downs were also hard to come by for Tomahawk, going 0-9 and 0-1, respectively. Crivitz went 5-11 on third down and 1-2 on fourth down.
Turnovers were also an issue for Tomahawk, giving up one interception and losing two fumbles. Although the Wolverines fumbled the ball three times, they ultimately recovered the football each time.
Tomahawk committed three penalties for 20 yards, while Crivitz committed none.
Crivitz won the time of possession battle, 30:19 to 17:41.
One bright spot for Tomahawk came on special teams, when Mason Evans returned a kickoff for a 70-yard touchdown.
The Hatchets are slated to travel to Coleman on Friday, Sept. 30. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
