Lincoln County Sheriff’s Report: Sept. 19, 2022

As reported by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Monday, Sept. 19:

On 09-14-22 a deputy was dispatched to the area of N1400 block of CTH W in the Town of Pine River for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver, a Merrill man, 34, had left the scene in another vehicle. A short time later the driver turned himself into the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. He was placed through a series of standard field sobriety tests and as a result of those tests he was placed under arrest for second offense OWI, OAR, and two counts of bail jumping. He was then turned over to jail staff. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

On 09-15-2022 a deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation on USH 51 at CTH J in the Town of Birch. The driver, a Merrill woman, 51, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. She was placed through a series of sobriety tests and as a result of those tests was arrested for a first offense of OWI. She was later released to a responsible party.

On 09-16-2022 deputies were dispatched to the area of CTH H and Leach Rd. in the Town of Skanawan for a motorcycle vs. deer crash with injuries. A motorcycle being operated by a Tomahawk man, 47, was traveling on CTH H when he struck a deer that had run out in the road. The driver and his passenger received minor injuries in the crash.

On 09-16-2022 a deputy on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle that she observed traveling over 100 MPH on STH 64 in the Town of Scott. While the deputy was attempting to stop the suspect vehicle, the driver a Merrill man, 32, turned into a private address of Grass Rd. and fled on foot from the deputy. Once additional officers arrived on scene a search was conducted and a suspect was located and taken into custody. The incident remains under investigation.

On 09-18-2022 a deputy stopped a UTV on N. 4th St. and River St. in the City of Tomahawk for a speeding violation. Upon stopping the vehicle, the deputy discovered the driver, a Tomahawk man, 69, was found to be under the influence of intoxicants. The driver was placed through a series of sobriety tests and as a result of those tests he was arrest for an offense of operating a UTV while OWI.

On 09-18-2022 deputies were dispatched to an address on CTH J in the Town of Russell for a battery that had been reported. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect, Gleason man, 22, showed up at the victim’s house, a Gleason man, 41, to confront him about an issue that had happened a couple years prior. The suspect then battered the victim, causing minor facial injuries, and then left the scene. When located, the suspect denied involvement in the incident. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was booked in on a charge of battery. The victim declined medical treatment.

During this week period there were five car vs. deer crashes reported.
