Live Well Lincoln seeking public’s participation in community health survey

For the Tomahawk Leader

LINCOLN COUNTY – Live Well Lincoln is seeking the public’s participation in a survey that aims to gather information on major health concerns for Lincoln County residents.

Live Well Lincoln, a local partnership “with the common goal of having Lincoln County be a healthy place to live, learn, work and play,” said the information gathered in the survey will be used to help identify health priorities and help guide countywide prevention efforts for the next five years.

“Live Well Lincoln includes partners from various sectors, as well as community members,” Live Well Lincoln said in a release. “The Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD), Aspirus Health, UW-Madison Division of Extension Lincoln County, Aging and Disability Resource Center of Central Wisconsin and Lincoln County Department of Social Services provide oversight to the committee.”

The survey is part of Live Well Lincoln’s Community Health Assessment (CHA) process, which occurs every five years.

“The CHA includes local data, community survey results and information gathered from community members through focus groups and interviews,” Live Well Lincoln stated. “This information is used to develop a Community Health Improvement Plan by addressing health priorities that we can collectively work on as a county.”

Shelley Hersil, LCHD Health Officer/Director said community feedback “has always been an important piece of this process.”

“In order to develop a Community Health Improvement Plan that is specific to our residents, we need to hear from you about the health challenges facing our county,” Hersil stated.

Surveys are available at LCHD, 607 N. Sales St., Merrill, as well as local organizations, area businesses and a variety of other locations throughout the county.

The survey, which should take five to ten minutes to complete, can also be completed online at www.lincolncountyhealthdepartment.com or on LCHD’s Facebook page.

A survey in Spanish will be made available on Monday, Sept. 19.

“The survey is confidential and your answers will not be shared,” Live Well Lincoln stated.

Live Well Lincoln said those who fill out the survey will have a chance to win a $25.00 Chamber Gift Certificate that can be used at local businesses.
