For the Tomahawk Leader

WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Paper Council (WPC) earlier this month selected State Senator Mary Felzkowski (R-Tomahawk) as its “Policymaker of the Year.”

“As Chair of the Senate Committee on Insurance, Licensing and Forestry, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources and Energy, and as a member of the Joint Committee on Finance, Senator Felzkowski serves in many important roles in the Capitol relating to the papermaking industry,” WPC stated. “Her extensive knowledge of our important issues has led to numerous successes this session, including the passage of the Chemical Recovery Boiler Reform Act.”

WPC noted that Felzkowski also serves as Senate Chair of the bipartisan Wisconsin Paper Caucus, a “bipartisan, bicameral group that works together to develop common-sense policy solutions which help sustain and promote the papermaking manufacturing sectors throughout Wisconsin.”

“It is my honor to represent the Northwoods and receive this important award from the Wisconsin Paper Council,” Felzkowski stated. “In my district, the papermaking and forestry industries are vital drivers of our economy, and an important sustainable part of our region’s future. I have enjoyed working together with the Wisconsin Paper Council on important advocacy efforts to move the industry forward.”
