NORTHERN WISCONSIN – Governor Tony Evers recently signed a $2.4 million contract to improve U.S. Hwy. 8 in portions of Lincoln and Oneida counties.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 22, according to a release from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).

Sheet Piling Services is the prime contractor for the project.

Construction will consist of:

  • Removing and replacing the culverts at Scott Creek in Tripoli in Lincoln County in 2022.
  • Removing and replacing the Little Somo River Bridge west of County Rd. CC in Oneida County in 2023.
  • Paving the highway over the work sites.
  • Replacing guardrail.

Construction in 2022 is scheduled for completion by November.

Work in 2023 at the Little Somo River is expected to start in May and continue to August. WisDOT said the schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.

“During construction, motorists can expect temporary single-lane closure with signals,” WisDOT stated.
