Kenneth Laaksonen

Kenneth Laaksonen, age 70, of Merrill, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2022 at his home under hospice care with Char and Alyssa by his side.

Ken was born on May 2, 1952 in Tomahawk to Arvid and Elise (Drew) Laaksonen. Ken married Lori Hakala on Aug. 28, 1982 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prentice. Together they had a daughter – Alyssa. Lori passed away in 2013. Ken was a logger in the Brantwood area for many years with Gustafson Logging. In 2014, Ken was lucky enough to find Char Jerzak to spend his time with. He then started working as a security guard at CAT in Prentice for two years. For the past five years, Ken worked with Cottage Gardens in Home Depot and absolutely loved his job there. He loved gardening, being outdoors and traveling to Door County.

Ken is survived by his daughter – Alyssa (Darrin) Evans of Little Suamico, and their children – Jase and McKenzie; and his significant other – Char Jerzak of Merrill. He is further survived by his brother – Dennis (Susie) Laaksonen of Hazelhurst; and Char’s children – Melissa (Jason) Anderson, Tom (Summer) Zientek), Rob (Becky) Zientek, Matt (Amy) Zientek and Trista (Cody) Klatt. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife – Lori, and half-siblings – Larry Peil and Shirley Drew.

The Funeral Service for Ken Laaksonen took place at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Krueger Family Funeral Home, Tomahawk. Rev. Patricia Schutz officiated. Visitation took place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 7 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visitation continued on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Burial took place in the Somo Cemetery in Tripoli.
