Hatchet golfers host meet, compete in Mosinee, Rhinelander

TOMAHAWK – The Tomahawk Hatchet varsity and JV golf teams recently took part in several meets.

Tomahawk

The varsity Hatchets hosted a meet at Inshalla Country Club on Tuesday, May 3.

Varsity results: Lakeland 302, Medford 320, Rhinelander 333, Antigo 334, Northland Pines 365, Mosinee 375, Tomahawk 381.

Individual scores: Owen Dickrell 80, Sawyer Hanna 94, Drew Albert 102, Gavyn Palmer 105.

The JV squad traveled to Mosinee that same day.

JV results: Lakeland 177, Mosinee 187, Medford   205, Rhinelander 213, Antigo 222, Northland Pines 222, Tomahawk 260.

Individual scores: Riley Massa 61, Carson Childers 63.

“We had our lowest team score in three years today,” said coach Garth Gerstenberger. “We are slowly becoming more competitive in the conference. Owen Dickrell, Sawyer Hanna, Drew Albert and Gavyn Palmer all had their PR today. Owen started slow, but really played well over the past 13 holes. I was really happy with our improvement around the greens today. By far our best day of chipping and putting.”

Rhinelander

The Hatchets competed in Rhinelander on Thursday, May 5.

Results: Lakeland 185, Mosinee 201, Medford 207, Northland Pines 217, Tomahawk 223, Rhinelander 230, Antigo 233.

Individual results: Owen Dickrell 48, Sawyer Hanna 57, Gavyn Palmer 58, Drew Myers 60, Drew Albert 60, Carson Childers 65.

“Carson Childers had the shot of the day with a chip-in on hole number three,” Gerstenberger stated. “Owen Dickrell had a birdie on the par 5 eighth hole.”

The Hatchets were scheduled to return to Rhinelander on Tuesday, May 10, before heading to a Great Northern Conference (GNC) meet at Eagle River Golf Course on Thursday, May 12. On Friday, May 13, Tomahawk will take part in a GNC meet in Minocqua.
