TOMAHAWK – The City of Tomahawk Health and Safety Committee approved two special event permit applications during its meeting on Wednesday, March 30.

The applications will head to the City of Tomahawk Common Council for final approval.

The Tomahawk Farm and Flea Market, sponsored by the Tomahawk Farmers Market Corporation, will be held each Saturday from May 7 to Oct. 29 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Washington Square Park. The organizers estimate that 50 to 200 people will attend each week.

The Roots for a Cure 5K Run/Walk is slated for May 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event, sponsored by Roots Salon, will see an estimated 60 to 75 attendees, according to the application. Participants will meet at Roots Salon and head north to E. Mohawk Dr., and then continue east before returning to the salon. All proceeds from the event will go to Ties That Bind Us, a local cancer support group.
