LINCOLN COUNTY – Seeds from the Lincoln County Pollinator Project are available at no cost at several locations in Lincoln County.

After the Lincoln County Pollinator Project held its first seed harvest at the Lincoln County Pollinator Garden at the Lincoln County Service Center in Merrill in the fall of 2021, those involved with the project aimed to provide enough seed to the community to create at least 10,000 square feet of new native prairie, a release from the Lincoln County Land Services Department said.

“After processing and preparing the seed, the Conservation Program has determined that enough seed was harvested to establish over 19,000 square feet,” the department stated.

The seeds are available for free, along with detailed instructions on how to establish the garden plots.

“Each sachet contains enough seed to establish a 64-square-foot area of native plants targeted towards supporting local pollinators,” the department said.

The sachets are available at the following locations, while supplies last: Tomahawk Public Library, 300 W. Lincoln Ave., Tomahawk; T.B. Scott Free Library, 106 1st St., Merrill; Merrill Enrichment Center, 303 N. Sales St., Merrill; and the Lincoln County Service Center (upper level main entrance), 801 N. Sales St., Merrill.
